It is possible to make a 555 send only 2 pulses

I am already using a 555 in monostable to send a pulse. Is there is a way to make a 555 to send just 2 pulses. What I mean is make the 555 send a .5sec pulse, wait 2 seconds and then send another .5sec pulse????

I am already doing this with two 555 but I am just curious if I can only use one 555.

555 pulses

I had the same query a while ago, and the only solution is to use two 555s, one as a monostable which is gating the second (astable). Pin 3 of the monostable connects to reset pin 4 of the astable.
