regarding mecaano

Respected sir timm

i am studying electronic and electrical engineering in University of sheffield ,UK.

I am in the fisrt year of my course
it has just been 2 months in my degree course and we are not yet familiar with any electronic devices.
The department has asked me to make a working car sort of thing which can go to a place and gather a ping pong ball and come back to its starting point.
we dont have to make a car actually
we just have to make something which moves on wheel and goes to the ball
picks it and come back to the starting point.

we have to controll everything with remote controll which i have to design as well.

i dont have any clue as how will it be done.
could you please help me out in yhis matter.
