Custome Audio Device Needed

My problem is this, we service point of sale systems for gas stations. The POS emits a tone, or beeping noise, indicating when a gas pump needs to be turned on. One store has an employee that can not hear the tone, not due to volume but rather frequency. The system has a standard audio output jack, to allow external speakers/headphones for volume purposes. The system is proprietary and there are no hardware or software options available to modify the tone on the system. I need some device that can take that audio output, and convert it to either a tone of a different frequency (preferably adjustable) or some type of other alert (e.g. flashing light etc). Any suggestions?

TOYS

I've come across several toys that react to sound.
(I myself have a plasma ball that flashes when it detects sound)
I would suggest doing a search on google for "toy reacts to sound" (or any other search engine) and then purchasing something cheap. Also :- If you want to build your own from scratch, mapplins do kits have l.e.d's that react to sound ( you could always swap the led's for a buzzer although that may mean modifying the circuit to allow a bit more voltage...

hope this helps...
