transformer primary coils

as explained in main transformer types i did not understand why the primary coils in (a 240v)are 2 and connected in serise. Also in (b 120v) primary coils are connected in parallel.

Transformer Windings

The manufacturer create one transformer for two distinct markets.
Where the mains supply is 240 volts you picture the voltage being divided equally across the 2 primary windings.
In an area where 120 is the rule the lesser voltage would generate less magnetic force(because less current would flow)so by wiring the windings in series, the 120 volts is applied to each winding and thus creates the same electro magnetic force as in the first example.
The manufacturer simply connects the windings in series or parallel to suit the marketing area.
