destroy a 7805 voltage regulator

Hi, nice site - lots of info!
I have accidentally connected my 7805 in TO-92 packaging the other way around (i.e. my input voltage of 12V went to the 7805 output). Is this deadly?

In the documentation they mention that a reversed input voltage (+ <-> -) would kill it, but I did not do that, as you see... so that's why I'm asking.

Thank you so much in advance!!

This is the answer to your question alexie, the regulator was not destroyed because the reverse voltage was not up to -12v in value
