multivibrator circuits

Just wondering if anyone can explain how a 9v multivibrator circuit composed of 2 of each of these components: 10k resistor, 100uF electrolytic capacitor, LED, npn transistor - arranged so the LEDs flash alternately would work? Specifically I'm confused about the interraction between the capacitors and the transistors. Do the capacitors - ah gee - too hard to explain.
Can anyone point me towards a clear source of information on these types of circuits that an absolute beginner might understand?
Thanks in anticipation T.
