stepping motor

I am looking for a way to make a stepping dc motor - eg - everytime the 555 goes on (or off) the motor will do a revolution (or less than that, doesn't matter). can someone give me an Idea or a direction? thanks.

SAA1027

Take a look at the old EiM website (www.temp.eleinmec.com) where there are three articles about stepper motors. I haven't got round to updating them for the new site yet!

The SAA1027 IC is the easiest way to drive a stepper motor, but unfortunatly it is not available new now.

You will need a 555 astable to clock the SAA1027 to make the motor move, and a way to count the pulses so you can stop the motor when it has made one revolution. or you could have some machanical switch to stop the pulses.

There is an article about counter on the old site as well.
